On New Years eve, Santosh Babu drank heavily, danced with some unknown men and women and came out past mid night. He then made a New Year promise of not to drink again. He woke up late next day and remembered his promise. In the afternoon he went for a walk. He passed a crowded bar, with music being played. By his will power, he crossed the bar and walked past.

After turning the street corner he came to another bar. Here also there was boisterous noise from inside, both males and females drinking. But Santosh Babu kept his promise. He crossed many such bars. While returning he crossed the same bars and they didn’t provoke him to break his promise. He kept complimenting his mental state.

Its quite late now. On the broadway people were dancing with beer bottles. He was crossing the last bar to return to his house. Now he told his mind,” Hey, you have been quite strong to save me from my addiction. Now let me entertain you on the first day of the new year.” After saying this to himself, he entered the bar.
