The coronavirus epidemic, which might develop into a global pandemic, poses a serious threat to the world’s economy as travel and transport of goods get severely affected. A joke going around is this virus will kill more people of bankruptcy rather than the infection.

The coronavirus is China’s swan song. There is no way it can be the low-cost, world manufacturer anymore. Those days are coming to an end. If Trump wins re-election, it will only speed up this process as companies will fear what happens if the phase two trade deal fails.

In-between throw in plots of those who, taking advantage of the widespread panic caused by fears of contrasting Covid-19 , are cashing in on calamity.

In many parts of the world, a black market trade is flourishing in face masks, hand sanitisers, toilet paper and other items that people, rightly or wrongly, believe will help prevent them from catching the dreaded disease. The demand for toilet paper surged – ahead of long-life food and other non-perishable goods. Posts on social media showed customers seizing rolls and piling packets on trolleys. Australia and Europe are rationing toilet paper ! In India under the fascist Hinduvta regime, cow urine is being marketed for the gullible. In Italy, one of the worst affected countries, coronavirus sick jokes are also spreading along with the infection, a typical example being about drug smugglers switching from narcotics to peddling a popular brand of sanitiser. Already, garlic is being touted as a preventive from Covid-19, though there is no scientific evidence to support this. It’s possible that garlic could also go underground and emerge in the black-market at exorbitant prices. Racketeers are exploiting fears of doom-time and turning it into a boom-time for themselves.

Enter the hero- a doctor of Indian origin in Canada who works tirelessly to prepare the first vaccine. The vested coterie gets wind of him and tries to kill him and he escapes to India and fakes sneezing and coughing at the airport to be quarantined in a hospital from where he releases the vaccine.
